The story
Jeff Ecklof won two PIAA Class AAA titles: 125 pounds as a sophomore in 2001 and 145 pounds as a senior in 2003. He placed at states all four years and won four District XI and four Northeast Regional titles.
His first title came in Terry Daubert's first season as head coach. Ecklof went 40–3, edged Easton's Mike Rogers and Stroudsburg's Joey Rivera, each 3–2, at districts, and pinned Rivera in the regional final. At Hershey he beat Jarrod King of Connellsville 11–8 and Brad Forbes of Downingtown 2–1 in a tiebreaker, survived Brian Baglio of Red Land 10–9 in overtime in the semifinal, and beat Pat O'Brien of Garnet Valley 12–6 in the final.
After a 3rd-place finish at 130 as a junior, the year he won his 100th match, he went 42–2 as a senior. He beat Mike Ferrara 4–3 for his fourth district title and 5–3 for his fourth regional title, won his state semifinal 9–3, and beat Kirk Main of McGuffey 3–2 in the final. That night brother Joey, Josh Haines, and Jon Oplinger also won titles, and Northampton won the 2003 PIAA team title 98–80.5 over Easton. Jeff finished with 154 career wins.
